Welcome to my blog!!!

I have collected baseball cards and autographs over the years. I still have boxes full of cards (as well as newer cards) that are just sitting there. So, I have decided to see how many of them I can get autographed. I use through the mail as my preferred route for this adventure. I also have an account on Zistle and The Trading Card Database for trading purposes (stevienicks77).

Darren Daulton

I decided to start collecting/targeting the 1987 Topps set. It was the first pack/set of baseball cards I was exposed to, so that's why it's so special. So, as one of my first players I targeted, was Darren Daulton. Not only was he a catcher, and a good one, he's also from Kansas, and has a Kansas mailing address. I love that old Phillies logo! Well, I sent 3 cards, but only got 1 back. And, the post mark was Florida. ???

2011 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects

So, I decided to try out the 2011 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects. I bought a value pack, which contained 12 cards, 3 of them chrome. I also bought a value pack of 2011 Lineage and a single pack of Allen & Ginter.

Debbie Downer, all of the Allen & Ginter's were duplicates, except the McEnroe mini and the Ryan Howard card. :(

There were 12 in the Lineage value pack, and none of them were duplicates. I got my first Linage mini!

Of the 12 in the Bowman value pack:
1 gold card
3 chrome cards (1 blue, 1 regular RC, 1 USA baseball)
8 cards (3 USA baseball, 1 first Bowman card, 4 RCs)

I don't really care for the look of the 2011 set. I bought a hobby box of the 2010 set, and loved it! I will probably buy a few more packs, just to see who I can get, but will not go out and collect it. I'm done with 2011 Allen & Ginter. I'm getting way too many duplicates. I will not buy 2012 Topps, I don't care for the design, and I will wait for 2012 Heritage and Allen & Ginter to see if I will collect them or not.

Today, I got a Steve Trout card back in the mail! How exciting! He only signs one card, though. His website and ebay site links are below:

I have changed my blog name...

I decided to change the name of my blog because my interests have changed since starting it. I have stated multiple times that I have become a huge fan of some of the 2011 sets. I have bought many packs/boxes of cards of my favs. Now, I have a lot of cards, and many duplicates. I am willing to make trades and/or sell these cards that I don't want because they are taking up too much room!

Today, I, again, bought an Allen & Ginter blaster box (which I got a lot of duplicates, few new cards) and a 2011 Topps Update Series hanger box (which I got a lot of awesome cards!).

Here are some of the highlights:

I hope this doesn't get my hopes up!

First up, one of my favorite players, B.J. Surhoff. His 1987 Topps card was one of my very first baseball cards, ever. At first, when I inspected the autograph, it looked like it may be a stamp. Upon closer look, its not stamped, just a bad Sharpie maybe?

Next up, Dusty Baker. I had read that he was a good signer and he didn't disappoint! He was the Cubs manager the years I lived in Chicago!!

Last, but not least, Terry Steinbach. I had posted in my Top 3 Debbie Downers of 2011, that I was bummed that I hadn't gotten these cards back yet, and I was expecting them back, considering they were $2.00 a card. The money goes to a scholarship fund, so well worth the money!!! He is also one of my all-time favorite players! I was ecstatic to find these in the mail today!!!

2011 Top 3 "Debbie Downers"

3. Cards returned from Curtis Granderson, unsigned. Wah-wah!! I had read that he was a great signer, so it was disappointing to get them back unsigned.

2. Cards still unreturned from Terry Steinbach. Wah-wah!! He is one of my all-time favorite players (I grew up when the A's were winning & he's a catcher!), and I sent 5 cards and the money to get them signed, and still nothing back. :(

1. All my unsigned TTMs that are still out! Wah-wah!!!

TOP 5 TTM OF 2011: #2 & #1

Well, I hate it when work gets in my way of TTM and my blog!

Number 2 of 2011 is Mark Prior. As you know, I'm a huge Cub fan, and Prior was a huge part of the Cubs for many years. Although he was derailed my multiple injuries, I sent this to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees, the AAA team of the Yankees. I didn't expect a response, but was thrilled when I got this back.

My number 1 for 2011 is a TTM I sent out in 2010. Assuming it was long gone, I was so excited to see this in the mail. The Mets were (and still are) one of my teams I root for. Howard was the best 3rd basemen during the time I was growing up and collecting cards. I had forgotten which cards I had sent (I didn't start keeping track until this year), but I think its awesome that I sent two cards that show him batting both ways, and one in a home uni and one in a road uni. Thanks for making my day, Howard!!
